2007 ![]() Stephen Young, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday following an accident involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a minivan. Young was driving the motorcycle with a passenger when they apparently lost control at the intersection of HH Road and Deer Hill Road in rural Waterloo. Young was thrown from the bike and slammed into the front of an oncoming minivan driven by Roger Maus of D Road. Young’s body landed in a nearby ditch. The female passenger, whose name has not yet been released, rolled on the road and received minor injuries. Maus was not injured. Monroe County Ambulance Service personnel worked for several minutes to revive Young, but the injuries proved too severe. Young lived on Schrader Drive in rural New Hanover. Jay and Jamie Papenberg became the proud parents of a baby boy last Friday. SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Waterloo finalized acquisition on August 23 on 27 acres of land at the intersection of Rogers and Hamacher Street, on the east end of Waterloo. The church plans to build a new school to replace the current building located on Third Street, which is approximately 50 years old.
Recent Obituaries Clemens Henry Feldker II, 72, of Muskogee, Okla., formerly of Waterloo, died August 27, 2007, in Muskogee, Okla. He was born December 30, 1934 in St. Louis, the son of Clemens and Elizabeth Feldker nee Eschmann. He married Ruth Ann Ahne in 1958. Mr. Feldker is survived by his wife; children, Jean Hensen of St. Louis, Helen Feldker of Columbia, Mo., Elizabeth (Ron) Berger of Wheaton, Md., Pamela Garr of Broken Arrow, Okla., Pauline (Michael) Marks of Wagoner, Okla., Clemens (Kristen) Feldker of Bloomington, Corina (Trevor) Dison of Silver Spring, Md., Joseph (Michelle) Feldker of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Krausz, and brothers, Paul Feldker and August Feldker, all of Illinois; and nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Feldker was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He worked as a brick mason for many years, a trade he learned from his father. A Rosary was recited in Fosters’ Ivory Chapel. A funeral Mass was at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fr. Bryan Brooks officiating. His is interred at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Residence Activities Memorial Fund at Grace Living Center in Muskogee, Okla. Ruth E. Kuergeleis, 80, of Columbia died Aug. 28, 2007, in Columbia. She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late William F. and Meta C. Kuergeleis nee Hoffmann. Ms. Kuergeleis is survived by her cousins Charles W. Kuergeleis of Chesterfield, Mo., Marie Stinchcomb of St. Louis, and Luella Russell of Valmeyer; godchildren Kay Schwartz, Marcia Collie, Jeff Grass, Joel Harres, Carl Metter and Alex Lattin; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ms. Kuergeleis was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #98 – Rob Morris Chapter in Fairview Heights, formerly Monroe Chapter #597. She was a retired vice president of First Bank of Columbia, formerly Monroe National Bank, with 45 years of service. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral service was at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. She was interred at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia Elevator or Orchestra Fund, or Friends of the Columbia Public Library. Anna T. Parsons, 87, of Columbia, died Aug. 29, 2007, in Columbia. She was born Aug. 18, 1920, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Augustine and Angelina Palmisano nee Mantia. She married Frank L. Parsons in 1943. Mrs. Parsons is survived by her husband; children Diane Kenuam of Park Hill, Mo., Mary Taylor of Bradley, Ark., Frank (Cheryl) Parsons of Columbia, and Jeannie Magyar of Bossier City, La.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers Tony Palmisano of Queen Palm, Fla., and Sam Palmisano of St. Louis; sister-in-law Josie Palmisano of St. Louis; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Parsons was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was at Immaculate Conception Church, Fr. Steve Gira officiating. She is interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Lydia B. Keller nee Otten, 90, of Millstadt, died Aug. 30, 2007 in Belleville. She was born Aug. 30, 1917, the daughter of the late Henry and Katie Otten nee Bury. She married Harold H. Keller in 1947; he preceded her in death bin 1980. Mrs. Keller is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Betty Ann Keller Timmer and Robert J. Timmer; brother Alvin (Lillian) Otten of Smithton; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Keller was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt. She was a 55-year member of VFW Post 7980 Ladies Auxiliary in Millstadt and a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She quilted for seven years at the Millstadt Senior Center. Visitation and a funeral service were at Strauss Funeral Home, Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. She is buried at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt. Memorials may be made to Millstadt Senior Center. |
