Sports Update - October 12, 2009
The Waterloo Junior High School baseball team won the state tournament today with a 2-0 victory over Harrisburg. They Junior Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 24-3. This evening, Monday, they will be welcomed back home with a parade through downtown led by the Waterloo Fire Department beginning at 6:15 p.m. This is the WJHS’ best record since 1986, when Lonnie Fulte coached the team to a perfect 22-0 record and a state title. The team also won state in 1988.
The SS. Peter and Paul girls’ softball team’s
state championship game
was rescheduled for Tuesday in Coulterville. The Falcons defeated Giant City 5-4
last week in the semi-finals. The SS. Peter and Paul baseball team will try for
third place Tuesday, at 1 p.m., in Coulterville. |
