Motorcycle Rider Injured In Maeystown Road Accident A Missouri man was injured today when his motorcycle ran off of Maeystown Road near the intersection of JJ Road in the Wartburg area. The biker landed in a ditch about 15 feet away from his bike. He was part of a group of fellow bikers riding north on Maeystown toward Waterloo. The injured man was conscious and talking when Sheriff’s Department deputies and a Monroe County Ambulance arrived on the scene. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Hospital with what initially appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. His name has not yet been released. ![]()
Two Cars Collide At Waterloo Intersection
There
were no injuries when two vehicles collided Saturday at the intersection of
Moore Street and Columbia Avenue near Gibault High School in Waterloo. Names
of those involved has not yet been released.
A car overturned on Route 158 at 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Triple Lakes Road (near the old Farmer’s Inn.) The initial report is that the driver was able to get out of the vehicle with minor injuries.
The Waterloo Bulldogs were crowned the champions today of the annual Monroe County High School Baseball Tournament. In the first round games, Waterloo beat Valmeyer 10-0, while Columbia defeated Gibault 12-2. In the championship game, the WHS Bulldogs handily defeated the CHS Eagles 10-0. In the third place game, Valmeyer defeated Gibault 9-5.

Annual Sheep Festival Highlights
The
Monroe County Fairgrounds were busy today for the annual Monroe County Sheep
Festival. Activities included sheep herding, Lamb Olympics, judging of sheep
and rabbits, an antique tractor display and a performance by the Thunder and
Lightning Cloggers. A hearty meal featuring lamb cuts - chops, burgers and
brats - were served for the lunchtime crowd.
